Do not lay with a man as you would with a woman, since this is a disgusting perversion. - Leviticus 18:22

Perverse, my 3rd opera, was first workshopped in concert version at the Black Box, Victorian Arts Centre during the 2002 Midsummer Arts Festival - an annual gay, lesbian, queer, bisexual, transgendered and pansexual festival held in Melbourne. Both The Bulletin and The Age chose Perverse as a highlight of the Festival.

Perverse is the deeply moving true story about a woman coming to terms with the fact that her father is gay. As his carer during the last ten years of his life, her self-image and place within the world is shattered as the truth of her father's wildly unconventional lifestyle slowly unravels. Their relationship is both crippled and unified by the Jewish religion.
