Estelle Pizer

So here I am in Melbourne town. Yes, it's very different. The colours of the trees are more grey than green. The space is big. The fact is that I don't have to worry now about a cyclist running into me as I walk along the footpath/road. I can speak, read and write the language. The lack of people, buildings, noise and vending machines I actually miss rather greatly. I find myself making excuses to buy products in Japanese grocery shops and asking inane questions like, "How do you cook konnyaku?" Or, "Have you tried the red tea that Kirin makes? It's oishi-des (delicious)." Anything to hear that language that stumped me continuously; see those cute little products that I used to buy just for the packaging and to let the Japanese person I'm talking with know that I'm legitimate, I mean I've lived in Japan for 10 months. Who am I kidding?

Hard to believe that 2 months have already past since you left.... I MISS YOU HERE!
However, knowing that you are settling back well in MLB, and that you brought back with you a piece of Japan in your heart, I am happy for you.
Til we meet again (soon, hopefully)!!
Masumi
