Estelle Pizer

I have access to the internet! It's taken 6 weeks to get a phone line and internet in this most technologically advanced and amazing country called Japan. Life here is fun, every day is a new adventure. I get lost and have to gesture wildly to be understood, fortunately the people are very patient. I can't read nor speak the language and this is proving to be most difficult. I've started Japanese lessons. My home is fantastic - there's a picture on the bottom of the view from my bedroom window. The fish are from Tsukiji market, the largest fish market in the world and a FUN place to visit in Tokyo. The box is something I made this week in Tokyo - it's called a 'chabako' box. Check out the chabako website (http://www.chabako.jp/menu/) if you want to do a class to make one. School starts again tomorrow. Oh, I saw Omar Sosa and his Africanos Quartet tonight. One of the best concerts I've been to for ages. Those guys have the groove, heart, soul thang down, a most satisfying event. More soon...

P.S. I just worked out the comments thing so apologies to those people who wrote to me and I never wrote back!!!

Hey there beautiful woman!
I like the box and it's great to read you're having a great adventure. Very exciting and I can't imagine how strange it must feel to understand nothing (lang. and speaking) around you.
I've written a song about the drought... and am singing it live on ABC Country radio next wed. ARRG! Doing an interview too! The masters is finally coming along - I'm doing my lit review chapter and getting my head straight at last.
Moving in with Leigh (to the share house for now) next weekend AND have a new job at Melb Girls Grammar Primary - so lots of news and changes. I'd better do some more study! Lots of love to you, Heather
